Never used it myself, but heard that back it the day it was great...until it exploded with no warning.

word to the wise -
STAY AWAY FROM KEVLAR STRINGS!
back in the early 70's, i shot 2 lanes away from an archer who's recurve sported a kevlar string that exploded a limb and by fortuitous luck the shooter was spared of serious injury.

wow- a string material that blows up and causes limbs to break as well. Sounds like something to avoid.

Kevlar , will deteriorate in sun light, and other UV sources MIGHT be ONE of the reasons it is not practical on bow strings used out doors most of the time .

Yes, this came out in the 70's and was the "new, latest/greatest". As noted above, it would break without warning. I used one once and had no probelms, but others would back then.
I'd use it as a wallhanger only at this point.

Tim, Just be careful that your body armor does not exlode with-out warning or deteriorate in sun light. That would stink worse than a broken string or bow limb.
I'm just sayin'

The explosive characteristic can be accelerated in the presence of methane...that's why I shelved my Kevlar Speedo. I'm all for living dangerously, but being one burrito away from a messy death?

I bought some extra heavy Kevlar fishing line to use for stitching and found that it would abrade quickly where ever it rubbed on itself.
