Bob Lee "Thunderbolt" tell me about'em?
« on: January 17, 2007, 05:37:00 AM »
Hi all,

Well I've always liked the looks of this bow but I'm sure there not being made anymore? So I'm just throwing it out here if anyone still shooting one, and ... well... you know the drill, pics and the likes...lol.

I bought one new about 6 years ago.  Unfortunately the top limb broke after 2-3 days of shooting.   I liked the bow, great craftsmanship, very smooth to draw and really quiet.  Speed-wise about average.   I don't want to sound negative about Bob Lee however, they took care of it immediately(I opted for a takedown) with no problems.   Since then I have had several BL bows, longbows, TD"s and their 1-pc recuves.  Personally, I think their best bow is the Falcon, a 1-pc recurve.  Very smooth to draw, maybe the quietest recurve I have ever shot, and just a good all-around performer.  If the Thunderbolt was offered today,  I would still pick the Falcon.   I don't know if this was much help, other than if you can't find a Thunderbolt you may want to consider a Falcon as a good solid 1-pc recurve.

He has made some great shooting bows. Sounds like Jeff is satisfied with his BL bows. I have a friend that shoots one. He likes a lot.

the Thunderbolt is a nice bow.  One of the best looking bows ever made IMO
and a good shooter too.  Like Jeff said, average speed but very quiet and smooth drawing.  I sold the one I had and I've regreted it ever since.

Be prepared to wait awhile if you want to buy one.  I've only seen a three for sale in the last several years and I bought one of them
