Frogman Bowhunter Challenge/ wounded warrior shoot
« on: August 18, 2012, 08:01:00 PM »
I know this should go in the trad events but I think It needs  to be here to get the most views. I would consider this the same as St judes.

I had the chance today to interact with some of the most elite and humble US service men that I have ever been in contact with.

On Aug 6 2011 a helicopter was shot down in eastern Afghanistan. on board were 30 american service men. Most belonging to seal team 6. ( the same guys that got  bin laden). A devastating lose to families and to our special ops force.

This shoot happened as a last wish from one of these guys.
all proceeds to go the wounded warrior and seal team foundation.
Me and a couple of wheel buds headed down to see what was up. A better cause, I've never been involved with. I saw guys with missing legs, arms etc, Most shooting bows on the course. Lots of stuff going on for the kids. Lots of stuff to raffle off. ( A guitar donated by Uncle Ted Nugget was one). One   thing that really got ;me was at every target they had a sigh with a target sponser. It also had a Name of one of the seals killed in the hellicopter. example ( SOC Chris Cambell  never forget)  I'm sure they wanted more  but when I left , with an hour left for sign up, they had over 100 shooters pay  to shoot the course.

I was sitting around talking to my buds and looking at the crowd. I don't think it would have been a good place for a few hoodelums in hoodies to try and rob the cash box.

They are gonna try and make it an annual event. I'll be there every time.

Hey Wally, shoot was between Jacksonville and Maysville NC. Only 20 minutes from my front door. Couldn't afford not to go. Seriously, it was a real life experience.

Well said, Don. Great write-up. So glad to hear it had success. Knew it would be a good one - for a great cause.

God bless all our dedicated troops.

It's a lot easier to part with the money when it's for a good cause. There is nothing that we can do that would repay these people in the military for their sacrifice.

Thanks Don for sharing that with us. I wondered why you weren't at Sissapahaw.

Seems like it would be a help to all if somehow the two shoots would not be scheduled on the same date next year, if at all possible. Just a thought.
