string failue
« on: August 19, 2012, 03:47:00 PM »
Has anyone ever seen a string failure due to too many twists?

I always replace my string if they seem like they are getting twisted up too tight, but I have never had one fail that was twisted really tight.

I have never seen or heard of a flemish twist string being twisted too tight. It would seem to me that the tighter it is twisted the stronger it would be.

Flemmish strings work best with fewer twists.. Don't remember the number but it is like 6 twists per inch is optimuim.

I always thought they start to look really tight at about 2.5 twists per inch.

I don't suppose anyone knows how many is too many?

I've heard if they look like a "barber pole" then all is good. If they look tighter than that it's getting too tight.
