Can you recommend one of our sponsors for some knife work?
« on: August 19, 2012, 06:49:00 PM »
Well, my first custom longbow will be coming tomorrow, a Kestrel from Mike Dunnaway at Wild Horse Creek bows.  Mike always includes a footed arrow made from the same woods as the bow, but in addition I had Mike make me some knife handle scales from the riser woods, as well.

As much as I'd like to tackle a knife handle project, I think it best this time to have someone with much more experience take care of this one.

Can you recommend one of our sponsors to both affix and shape the scales I have and also construct a leather sheath?  Honestly, my budget is $150, so we'd probably be talking a blade blank as opposed to a custom blade.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Michael Bankston has made several knives for me and at least one for our esteemed forum leader. He posts over on the knife forum here but my old brain won't release his handle just now. I'm pretty sure he could do something for you like you describe. If you don't find him pm me and I'll get you his email.

Shawn at Swafford knives makes incredible knives and am sure he would work up something you will want to pass to future generations.
