Wood arrow broadhead tuning help
« on: August 26, 2012, 03:56:00 PM »
I have been shooting my new woodies for couple months now and flying great.  Finally tried out the Snuffers and they are grouping tad hi but right (weak).  1st set of woodies so not sure what to do.  They spinn well and same weight as the practice FP ones.  Should I raise my brace height?  Order heavier points which I don't have the $ for and our season is in a month.
Shooting 52#  at 26" Black Widow PSA with 27" arrows with 125gn points
Thanks

It's easier to tune the bow to the arrow than the other way around if you're close.

Move your nock point up just a hair.

If you're weak you don't want heavier you want a lighter point, but the easiest thing to do is use a slightly thicker side plate, or build your existing side plate out by placing a tooth pick or match under it.  Doing so will decrease the amount of spine you need for your bow to be tuned.

Very easy to do all that and best of all you don't have to spend any money to do it.  You could also shorten your arrows a smidge if you have clearance.

Hope this helps, Tim

OMG that is a dream bow!

if they are weak, you could lower your brace height by untwisting your string from the lower loop by one full twist and then shoot and see where they are hitting, then do it again until you have moved them over where you want them.

You can work on moving your nock point to fix the high problem.

Just do one or the other first, don't make adjustments to both (nock height and brace height)at the same time.
