Child Harness Question
« on: September 01, 2012, 07:14:00 PM »
My daughter is very interested in spending some time in the stand with me this fall, probably short morning or afternoon sits.  My question is what harness has worked best for any of you who take kids out to the stand.  She is almost 7 and is pretty tall for her age.  Any suggestions?  Thanks
That's why they call it hunting....

I've used theHhunter Safty System vest that fits my 7 yo well. I like the fact its a vest over a harness style setup.  Still has room to grow as well. I think it rated for up to 90 lbs. He is a 51 lbs right now.

My daughter is also tall and has been hunting in a tree stand with me the last 4-5 years.  She wore a Hunter Safety System® Lil' Treestalker vest, till this year.  She is now 11 years old and tall enough that there is no longer enough leg strap to let out, so this year I purchased her a new HSS ladies pro vest size small and it works great.  I liked it so much I bought a HSS pro vest for myself to replace my aging SOP harness.
I think the HSS one would be a great choice!  We have been very impressed with all their products.

That is the one I use. Can not wait to hand it over to my boy and get a small HHS ladies vest!

Would also recommend  using the safety line. They are attached from the second their feet leave the ground until they are back down safely. A 3 pack at cabelas for 100.00 or you can make your own. We started using them this year for the kids.

Good advise right there.  I use safety lines on all of my stands and my daughter and I are connected from the time our feet leave the ground.

Yup, I always tie on a safety line with a prussic (sp?) (I can tie one but I'm not sure I know how to spell it!).  I'll need to get some more climbing rope though!

I order all my mountain climbing rope to make life lines from BlueWater ropes.  Great rope and a great company to deal with. They ship fast!
