Cutting Arrows..

Is there a difference in cutting wooden arrows with a fine tooth blade in a electric miter saw as opposed to an arrow saw?

So long as it gives a good clean cut you could use a bucktoothed beaver.

No problem if it doesn't splinter the shaft while cutting.

The fine tooth will work great.  The regular cutoff wheel in an arrow doesn't work well for woods anyway; burns its way thru rather than cutting.  I found a 3 1/4" carbide tip blade that works very well in my arrow saw.

I'm with Bearclaw on this one. Use a sharp knife to score deeply and snap it off. Just make sure you stay in the grove.

Hobby shop should have XActo knifes with some very fine small hand saws.

I use a sharp pocket knife to make a ring around the shaft and then snap the end of the shaft off.

a miter saw works fine.  I use one all the time.  Even if you get a little splintering, you're going to take that off with your taper, so it doesn't really matter.

Making woodies gave me a good excuse to keep my bandsaw!  Does a great job, but I already had it.

My wife makes stained glass windows and uses a small cut-off miter saw we bought at Harbor Freight for $25 on sale.  I bet it would work great to cut wood arrows.
