tree spider livewire descent system
« on: September 04, 2012, 09:43:00 PM »
Looks interesting but I cannot find a good video of it in action which is bothersome.  Anyone handled one or seen one in use?  Thanks, Al

There's a video on the company website.  Its an emergency descent system that automatically/slowly lets you down to the ground after you have fallen.  Maximum height of 25 feet.  Max weight of 300 lbs.

ONE TIME USE! (cannot be reused)

About $80.

Here's a couple of videos showing what it does. Basically they have descent systems according to your weight. When you fall the gears strip out lowering you to the ground ergo use once throw away. This may sound expensive for a one use product but I don't think an Emergency room visit or a burial compares in price.I do like the Tree Spider harness.

Also might want to check out the Rescue One CDS harness.  Same controlled descent option but is reusable.  It is a heck of a nice harness without even considering the benefit of the descent system.  I used it all last year and can't recommend it high enough.

Rescue one does not appear to be in business anymore
