LITTLE CHOPPER QUESTION
«
on:

is it possible to use the little choppers to shape and cut feathers to any size or shape? I have never used one and would like to cut some 2" shield cut feathers, anyone know if this is possible with the chopper?

Each chopper has its own shape, and we cannot change it. Thus, to cut another size or shape you have to buy another chopper. Therefore, to cut 2" shield, order the 2" shield chopper. However i think the smallest one is 3".

The Lil Chopper folks will also custom make a chopper to your design.

It always amazes me when people say you can't do something but have never actually tried.
You can't change the pattern of your chopper but you can make any size you want as long as it is smaller than the chopper is designed for.
When I am cutting 2" or 3" kids feathers(for 1/4" dowel arrows) on a 5" chopper I put a couple of layers of tape on the chopper at the size I need to use as a guide.
You can look at the cut marks on the metal backing plate to find where to put your tape for the size you want
Put the quill of your feather on the top edge of your tape, close the chopper on your feather and give it a good whack, works just a well as the guide for a full size feather.

You can modify them a whole bunch of ways. Just be creative.

I agree, I use my choppers to make all different lengths except I use a thin strip of wood instead of a piece of paper.
