warm up
« on: September 08, 2012, 11:25:00 PM »
do any of you warm up before hunting and if so how?  I've been stopping and doing a little stump shooting because I've found my first shot or two cold is normally off.  I'm fighting alot of scar tissue and arthritis even though I'm only 44.  I'm hoping adrenaline will help but just shooting at my range I'm normally not really starting to get into a groove until about 5 or 6 shots.  Also do you continue to stay loosened up through the day?

I shoot a few shots in camp before I leave in the morning. Short distance like 5 yds into a bag to loosen the muscles.

I pull the bow several times while on stand  just to keep the muscles loose.

With the light bow poundages I shoot, which you can see in my signature, I don't need to do any warm up exercises.

I never hit the woods cold, i like to bust a bag a few times before i leave, and while on stand ill do an occasional draw, just to loosen up the muscles.

I don't have anything to shoot at before I leave for hunting in the dark, but I always draw my bow back a few times each half hour or so while in the stand.

I take a couple blunt tipped arrows with me and shoot them out of my stand once I'm settled in.

Also, I periodically draw my bow while sitting there.

I draw the bow several times on a morning hunt. I always shoot a few times before heading out on afternoon hunts.
