Wyoming Antelope - Please Help
« on: September 10, 2012, 11:44:00 PM »
My 12 year old son, Kevin, and I were unable to draw our first choice Wyoming antelope permit, but he got several doe/fawn tags in area 50 in the Medicine Bow area and I got a couple doe permits in area 45, which is west of Laramie. We were hoping someone could help us with some information on where to go, some ranchers names or anything that might help us find a place to hunt. Kevin shot a very nice black bear in June here in Idaho, and we're hoping to put some lope meat in the freezer as well.
I've never posted here before, so please be patient.
Thanks
Doug

Doug... first thing I'd do is contact Wyoming Game and Fish. They may be able to point you in the direction of some private ground.

Second thing to do it get a BLM map (public ground).

Contact the Rawlins BLM office. Lots of that area is checkerboard, so they can probably give you some good advice. X2 with Charlie on contacting G and F.
If you don't like cops, next time you need help, call Al Sharpton

I live right next to area 50. Tough area to get permission. Outfitters have most of it leased up. There are a few square mile sections of BLM that can be accessed. There is a walk in hunter management area west of highway 130. You may check the G&F website to see if you need a permission slip for that. Many of those go fast though.

You should alsways find a place to hunt BEFORE you get your tags.

If you are bowhunting, the few places you can access will be pretty much all yours, but if gun hunting, these accessable sections will have be over-run with hunters.
