Need Help On Bow Purchase
« on: September 11, 2012, 10:35:00 AM »
There is a bow I want to buy. It is a 60# Martin Hatfield. A little heavy but I have shot 60# bows before. My problem is there are two cracks in the fiberglass on the bottom limb on the belly right next to the limb pad. One is 1.5 inches and the other is about 3 inches. Will the bow be ok, is it gonna blow when shot, will the cracks get worse. I dont know what to do. Please give me your opinions.

Thanks Travis.

sounds a little sketchy to me.  Dings and scratches are one thing, but cracks make me pretty nervous...

Hard to tell without seeing it but cracks in the glass are ususally not a good sign and from your description it sounds like they are in a bad location. I'd pass on that bow.

There are plenty of really nice bows out there and it's a good market for a Buyer right now. Check the classifieds on TradGang for other t/d recurves.

Good Luck!

Which direction do the cracks run? If across the grain don't shoot it!
In either case I'd pass on the bow.

I would pass on it for sure, it may never blow up, but not worth the chance .
