Gluing broadheads to adapters
« on: September 11, 2012, 08:34:00 PM »
This year I'm going to have to glue broadheads to adapters to get the desired weight I want. This is the first time I've done this and am curious what sort of adhesive you all use? Ferrel tite, epoxy, gorilla glue, etc?

Thanks in advance!

24 hr epoxy.  Screw your adapters into your arrows and crank em down as hard as you can by hand.  Use BLUE thread locker or "Loc-tite".  Now,  apply epoxy to adapter with a toothpic,  push the broadhead onto the adapter.  Begin balancing and spinning,  checking for wobble.  I use one of those cheep-o plastic cutting boards and I push the heads on hard,  pressing the tip of the broadhead into or onto the cutting board.  Once you get it to spin perfect or as close as you can with no wobble,  CAREFULLY set the arrow aside.  After about 2 hours,  go back and check the spin one more time for insurance.  I've had them sort of swell out of whack on me before,  but hardly ever.  If you ever want the broadhead off the adapter for whatever reason,  it will come off with some heat.  Hope this helps!

I like hot melt glue.  Then you can shoot them and turn them and shoot them again.  It may affect arrow flight, and definitely affects your sight window.

Loctite 2 part epoxy works great. A little heat with a torch and it will release no problem if you need to change adapters. Just make sure the adapter is pointing away from your face, heated epoxy must release some sort of gas inside ferrule, adapters will actually pop out on their own.
