Just ordered a Bush in a Bag...

from Big Jim's. I cant wait to try it out. I'll probably have about a week to practice with it on and make any mods I need to shoot with it. Does anyone have any suggestions for modifications to make it more useable?
I'll be sitting on a milk crate hunting with the Bush in a Bag. Last year I found that having loads of gadgets and lugging around tree stands wasnt fun for me any more. I cant wait to try this more simplified form of hunting.
It's funny the company that makes these is only a short drive from here but it was cheaper to get it from Big Jim's plus the company's page says they needed a 4 week wait. My suit got to travel from here to Georgia and then back here from Georgia!

The  "back" (rear edge) of the Bush In A Bag has grommets along its edge for rigging it as a blind. I put a 1' length of cord through the far left and far right grommets. You can then pull the back corners of the Bush In A Bag forward, in front of you, and tie them together. This gathers the bulk of the poncho closer to your body and makes it much easier to move around, shift position and so on. If you want to move some distance, you can gather up the "skirts", pull them to the front, and tuck them up over the tied cord belt.

The Bush In A Bag is a very clever product.

A buddy of mine bought one last year. A few thoughts after using it and shooting with it. It's very big overall. Made to drape over your legs like a blanket. Walking in it is near impossible. You'll need to have an extra long arm guard to hold the sleeve away so it doesn't interfere with your bow string. I think my buddy actually wears 2 arm guards. He also use a bungie cord to hold the chest in a bit to prevent string interference with the chest. Make sure you practice with the bag/ head net on. We cut a large opening in the head cover to help him to see better.

I few things you might consider, cutting some off the bottom so its not so long and I'd consider cutting of a good portion of the bow arm sleeve.

It's one of these one size fits all including Big Jim. And I ain't no Big Jim!

I've had one for 2 years.  I cut the sleeve completely off my bow arm.  It was the only way I could keep the "leaves" from getting hung up in my bowstring.  I think I read that Big Jim does the same thing.  PeteA is spot on with the bungie cord to keep it tight to your chest.
 I killed the 2nd biggest buck I have ever taken with my recurve last year wearing it.  It is lots of fun getting eyeball to eyeball with'em!

It came today. I wont have any time to fiddle with it but I did try it on. Its very soft and quiet. None of the rustling that I have read about. All 3 of my dogs immediatley started to back away from me while barking and growling! Pretty funny!

Scott,  I don't have the B in B but I have and use another ghillie suit.

Definately shoot with it i to see whats up.  I ended up cutting away most of the stuff hanging inside my bow arm.  You just don't need it.  Also, trim up the hat / hood as you need it.  Mine has boonie hat with hangie downies all over.  I find that by taking the chin strap / string, and scootching the hat a bit to the left and putting that side of the strig behind my left ear, I can see better when aiming.  Stuff hangs down in my face on the right side, but that helps hide me.  I wear a light camo wrap around the lower half of my face.  I also bought gloves from (I think) Whitewater (I will research and edit this in a bit) that also have ghillie stuff sewn in.  They are great but the bow glove especially needs a ton of trimming on the upper thumb / forefinger areas.

I have had a hen turkey circle me at maybe 5' looking for the hen that was answering her and she never spooked.  I was seated crosslegged, shotgun across lags, pot call in hands in my crotch area, giggling. . .

That was some quick shipping from Big Jim's I just ordered it Thursday afternoon and it was on my doorstep by Monday Morning! It was my first time ordering from him but it wont be my last time.

I have one that I used to try and fool some antelope a while back. I had a doe and 2 fawns inside 10 yards, and they never suspected a thing. I too cut the bow arm sleeve back, and I cut about a foot off the bottom of the thing. If I want to move and leave it on, I just roll the front up and sort of hold it in place, but it is really easy and fast to take off and on, so if I'm going any distance, I just stuff it into its' bag. I'm looking forward to trying it out on turkeys in a couple of weeks.

I cut a few strips off of the bottom of it and tied them onto a boonie hat.  I don't like wearing a hood and this works out good with some face paint.  I also use a bungee cord across my chest to keep it held back out of the way.

Thats a good idea tying strips to a hat. Just from playing around with it I dont think I am going to like shooting with the hood on. Its a good carry bag for the suit but I think its too loose to use as a face cover. With my luck I could see it shifting around on my head and blocking my vision at a bad time-like when I am coming to full draw on a nice buck. Otherwise it looks like the bush will do a great job at breaking up the human outline.
