Some long over due arrows....
« on: September 14, 2012, 05:05:00 AM »
I've finally gotten into my woody arrow groove....Well sorta, I've been catching up on arrows I've promised to some of my friends here on TG.

I sent a dozen out a few weeks ago to a REALLY great guy for someone just starting out in Trad, and I just fininshed half a dozen Surewoods for another TG member, who will remain anonymous   :readit:   as I want this to be a surprise.

I wanted to post up a few pics of the arrows since I forgot to post up the dozen I already sent out.   :banghead:  They aren't the artistic museum type craftsmanship of some of the guys on here, but I'm still learning and having a blast doing it! I just thought I'd share them with all of you since you all are so generous with arrow pics. Oh and I'm not a photographer either...So on with the pics

Thanks for looking....And I'm sure they'll be a happy TG member soon...(And to my Trad friend who will be getting these...I'm sorry it took so long)  :banghead:

Very nice looking arrows!

I have to ask (as I'm going to be capping for the first time next week) what you used for the cap?

MonRiver, those caps are acutally spray painted on. I sealed with four coats of wipe on poly first, then taped off and lightly sanded where I wanted my caps. I then lightly sprayed on two coats of white primer coat. Allowed to dry and then applied the flo. yellow...again lightly apply or it will run. I think I did it in four very light coats so it would be even. I then let it dry completely for a day and then put two light coats of wipe on over it. I then sharpie crested and fletched. Good luck doing yours, I'll warn you it's VERY addictive once you start.

wood arrows are so good looking, I wish the humidity down here didn't destroy them or I'd have to get a couple dozen....or build done, I  love building things.

Americanhunter7,

Thanks!  I appreciate the help!  I bought a can of fluorescent yellow tonight.  I'm planning on a few coats of Tung Oil, then the sanding and priming.  Followed by the couple coats of spray.
