blind or ghillie

I have just gained access to a vineyard for hunting blacktail.I went scouting today and saw plenty of candidates.my first approach was to just walk and put the sneak on them. but the best I could do was 50 yards.I think I need to get them on the way in, when they jump the fence.To do that I need cover,it is very open along the fence line with some shrub here and there along the south edge where they enter.would I be better served by a blind or a ghillie.I am partial to the Idea of a ghillie but have never used one. as for the blind I don't feel like I am hunting when I am in a tent.but if I can get a crack at one of those bucks I saw today then I would entertain the Idea.thanks for your input

I use both but I prefer to use a Ghillie suit. Just make sure you shoot with it on and do the proper trimming to avoid string interference. They work awesome!

I would just make a couple of  ground blinds in those bushes. Then you have a few choices of where to sit. Also, you won't feel like you are in a tent. Make your blinds now so the deer get used to the changes. You don't need much around you. Check out some threads on ground blinds.

Use all three! Set up natural ground blinds where applicable, set up you portable blind in advance and get a gille suit.  What are the predominat winds?, what are the occasional winds you can only hunt in one specific spot?  Where are your most likey intercept locations?

Last few years I've used a gillie with some combinaton of natural brush/ground blind set up.  I like to get into the thick stuff make sure I have a few shooting lanes and hide out.
And with the dayly fluctuations in the wind I have several place I can set up quickly and quietly.

Used my ghillie for deer last year on the ground and you don't need a blind.  Killed two deer at close range.  Used it turkey hunting and hit one at 14 yrds.  Didn't get the bird.  The only thing that would have saved that hunt would have been using a blind to get the second shot off.

I would agree with using a few options.  If you can get permission set up some blinds at the entrence points.

I tend to like a gillie set up as I like to be able to move around.

I use the pop-up blind some for turkeys, mostly in the PM hunting food plots, but for deer I like natural cover and a ghillie or ASAT leafy.  I like to have good cover behind me and plenty of room to swing the bow and shoot in front of me.

awesome input guys thanks. Winds are nw in the afternoon and as the sun goes so does the wind.I get some swirl as we are close to the hillside.I am going today to build a couple of ground blinds and use a leafy field blanket.Thanks again

I got a rancho safari 4 season ghillie I have used it for 6 daysthe thing works awesome I had 2 does walk 10 feet from me on sunday evening with no clue I was there and I have had 2 vineyard workers 10 yards away with no clue either i just wish the big bucks would follow suit thanks for the info
