Single Bevel Suggestions
« on: September 20, 2012, 01:15:00 AM »
I want to give single bevel heads a try this year. I'm having a hard time finding a single bevel head that comes in the weight I need. I'm looking for something in 140-150 grains. The closest thing I can find is the 120 grain Grizzlies, which by the time I add a 32 grain short adapter and glue, I'm worried they're going to come in too heavy. Any other suggestions?

I would give the Grizzlies a try. You are only looking at 12gr difference from your target weight. 12grns should not make any difference in your arrow flight.

remove some stock from the tip of the adapter---dremel/file/drill--you can fine tune it to any weight

Bill and Tracey recently sent me some 130's and 140's so I have them to sell and I would guess others will soon.  If you want heavier I wouldn't give up looking yet.

Sorry, I just re-read your post.  Now I see you want 140 finished with screw in adapters.  My mistake.

Check out the Razorhawk from red feather archery. They come in 150 gr screw in. Red feather is a sponser here and the owner Stan Mercer is top notch!

Abowyer has a few that fit that description:

   Abowyer Broadheads

You will be hard pressed to find a better broadhead...and you will NOT find one sharper out of the package.

Tusker concord from KME will come to you razor sharp, 145 grains with a tanto tip on them.  They are a tough wicked head.

These are a glue on however.

I believe that Eclipse's new head the Werewolf comes in a 150 grain single bevel. The other thing you might try is the 120 grain Grizzlys with a 35 grain titanium adaptor from Abowyer. Be forewarned though the 35 grain adaptor is only 5/16 " so it will go inside the ferrule some but you still should be able to get them mounted straight.
