Question about tuning heavy spined arrows

I shoot a Mathews Heritage Hawk which is a r/d longbow. 55# @ 28" and I draw just over 29".

I have played around on the dynamic spine calculator and think this will work but wanted to get some input on the concept of using an arrow that is spined too stiff and using heavy point weights to weaken the dynamic spine.

Looking at GT Trad 75-95 blems from Big Jim. My plan was to leave them between 31" and 32" and use 225 grain tips to effectively weaken the spine. Is this a reasonable idea? Any problems that arise from this?

I don't use the spine,calculators much so this is just an,opinion.
75/95 just seems too heavy,with that weight broadhead.
55/75 should work better.

this is not only a reasonable Idea it is a very good one, Not only will it increase your arrow weight, but will give you a arrow with a good Foc%. which will increase the arrows penetration.

The calculator for heavily front weighted arrows.I have done exactly that with 30" 7595's and it took a 100 gr insert and a 300 gr point.Add another inch of shaft-try 25 grs less point and so on.

It can be done but only you can decide if the overall weight is something you like.I would recommend a black shaft,not a trad as the wood grain adds about 1 grain per inch and even with a black shaft,you are going to have a 700 gr arrow.

Now I like a 700 gr arrow but most people don't.I'm sure that 225 grs isn't enough,even with a 32" arrow.If you want a lighter arrow,5575's with wood grain.

According to the calculator my Dwyer needs the same set-up. It showed 31.5 with 100 grain insert and 125 grain tip at 55@28 for me. Total arrow weight is around 595 grains at 10.9 GPP with the traditional shaft. Black shaft need to be an inch shorter and will be around 518 grains at 9.5 GPP. I ran the 5575's and they will work, but your GPP (grains per pound)will be in the 8-9 GPP's. If speed is a concern. Calulator shows the 7595 around 175 and 5575 around 195. I use the calculator as a starting point and tweak from there. I opted for the 7595 traditional shafts.

Like I said,Stu's doesn't work on high FOC setups.Many have found the same ting.I've tuned about 8 doz different high FOC setups and Stu's always says I am way weak.They aren't.On other setups,up to the low 20% FOC's,the calculator worked fine.

I guarantee that if you TUNE 7595 Gold tips for that setup,you will have a 700 gr arrow,give or take a few.I've also tuned other .340,.350 and .300 deflection arrows.Same results.

Leave that setup full length...I draw my 55lb@28" Toelke to 31.5" and I shoot the 7595s with 350 grains total weight up front. They hit like mac trucks!
