Flying with a bow

Hello traveling hunters,  do you know if you can take a bow as a carry on?  I hate checking it in, always worry about it getting lost or damaged.  I can toss the tips in my check in bag, but would like to carry the bow with me.  it's a takedown in a hard converted violin case and would fit in the overhead bin. I've checked it in before, but would prefer not to.  Well just wondering what y'alls experiences are.

Nope can't be carried on.  Heck it's a weapon by definition and they won't let you take fingernail clippers in your carry on.

That's what I figured, wasn't sure since it's broken down and takes quite a bit of work to put together.  oh well, I keep checking it in and keeping my fingers crossed it makes it ok.

These things are tough. I've seen a 4 wheeler rolled over one and it didn't get hurt.  I know the airlines can mess up almost anything, but I think your bow will handle it.

put a sticker on it GLASS HANDLE WITH CARE and its true its made of fiber glass

I just returned from Colorado and my take down recurve was carried inside my duffle bag with limbs taped together inside a bow sock and surrounded with clothes, no issues.
