Anyone hunting 5c early doe?
« on: September 23, 2012, 07:26:00 PM »
Kinda late to ask with only a week left but i was recently reminded how many 'gangers are right in my backyard and i was curious if any PA Hunters in 5c have had success yet. I had a close encounter last monday but no venison yet. Due to work i haven't made it out again since Tuesday (which was miserable).

Been out still hunting and stalking, but no success yet.  Lots of fun though.  I've seen a dozen turkeys, caught two garter snakes, 3 or 4 red fox... and lots of unoccupied tree stands.

Yep.....it was a busy week!

Had a dandy buck at 12 yards on Thursday,  I took a deep breath drew to anchor and took the doe next to him!  Man he was a nice one.  He stood under me for the next hour in an acorn frenzy!

Cool, I saw a really rough looking flock of turkeys, a family of coons (no foxes though) and have seen plenty of deer. I just havent had any shots. I'm probably gonna hunt tomorrow again. Its always great just to get out and see whatever wildlife presents itself.

Austin,

I was out with the UBP this Weekend. They put together a great event. While I was there they had two does brought in. This is amazing event. Two gentlemen canvas the area for farms to hunt. Many of the farmers allow this because we are hunting for doe and not buck and it is only one weekend a year. You can pick a farm to hunt and just follow the directions.

I hunted two different farms. We saw buck but the does knew the gig was up. I didn't see does until after shooting light. ): Yes they were at about 7 yards after I got out of the tree.

I have a busy week but will be out on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Oh yeah, we did see a lot of turkey.

Martin

I got out one day last week and had 2 good shooter does within 30yards or so but nowhere near a decent shooting lane or within a comfortable range.  Had my 8 year old daughter along for the trip.  As soon as she saw the deer she started whispering "Shoot 'em daddy, shoot 'em."

She later regaled my wife with the tale of how we almost got one.
