Which String Material?

Other than B-50, what string material have you found to be the Quietist Material.  Building it for a recurve 55#

I use DF97 and 8125 with padded loops on all my bows. Better performance and always quieter.

I use Brownell TS-1, Ultra-cam and d75 thin. I have found that Ts-1 and d-75 thin are about the same when it comes to sound...

IMHO, the bowstring fiber that's got lotsa stretch/creep (i.e., Dacron B50/B500/etc) and is heavy in mass weight, will most likely be the dynamically quietest - but will also be poorer in performance whence compared to better more durable and higher tensile strength fibers.  

In any event, a well placed set of good string silencers, plus using a 10GPI minimum arra weight, are the reasons to use a high performance HMPE string fiber (Dyneema, Vectran, etc) over the slower stuff.  YMMV.

Does the amount of strands make a differance in sound?  Tomahawk's replacement string is TS1 18 strands. I know about the performance gains from less strands. Just trying to build the Quietest hunting string I can. As for whiskers, where have you found to be the best place on the string to mount them?

Individual strands of bowstring fiber come in different diameters, so it's the overall rounded string diameter that *might* matter.  Personally, I don't care about the strand/string diameter, but I do care about the center serving diameter.

I would be more concerned with making a durable, stable, performance oriented bowstring instead of a "quiet" bowstring.

Each bow is different - you need to experiment with silencer locations ... try a third down from the limb tips as starters, maybe.
