Glue to Re-Sole Muck Boots
« on: September 25, 2012, 01:29:00 PM »
Got a pair of Muck Woody max boots that the soles are coming off.  Anybody know what the best type of glue that is out there to re-glue them on.  I can think of several glues that would stick, but do not know about the pliability of them.  Thought someone on here might be able to save me some type after having a similar experieince.

Shoe Goo. I've patched rubber boots and a pal ripped his waders one season and used it to patch them and they held all season. Sold me on it. It was designed to fix sneakers and running shoes when the soles start to peel.

Forget it. I've tried everything and their customer service stinks. Go get another pair. Once they start to go the company wants nothing to do with you. As comfortable as they are, as soon as they started making them in China their durability has gone downhill. We wear them a lot but will not buy any more. Try Boggs boots. We think they are much better.

These are about 9 years old so they have lasted well.  More of a rot issue from contiued drying on the neet boot dryer I am expecting.  Do you all think gorilla glue would hold.

Bill,
Yes their customer service lacked in my book when I called them for recommendations on what would be best choice to fix them.

The best thing is the contact cement used for rubber pond liners,  once you bond it , it is stuck forever and is completely waterproof, even under water

Aqua seal is the best I have found to repair rubber boots.

Non of that stuff works...I've tried it all.  Adam, the fact that your boots are 9 years old indicates to me that they were made in the USA and not China....big difference. We have two pair of 2 year old winter muck boots. Both soles are coming off and they will do nothing about it. They suggested everything you guys have but to no avail.

I have a pair that I glued the bottoms back on about two years ago. They are still going strong. I used a epoxy made for rubber. I do not remember the brand or name but it was for rubber and stayed flexible. Mine are about 9 or 10 years old also. I bought a new pair last year but haven't worn them yet, keep waiting for these to tear up. I sure hope the quality of the new ones hasn't went down too much. Oh I think the epoxy I used came from Big Lots.

One of the soles came loose on a pair of Rockport shoes and I reglued it with E40 smooth-on epoxy. Didn't put it inthe oven either and it is holding after almost a year. If it is flexable enough to hold glass on a recurve limb tip It should hold a shoe sole or maybe enven a boot sole.

I used Seam Grip...it's something I had laying around for sealing the seams on my Canvas Pyramid tent.  Stuff works great.
