snuffer fails the test
« on: September 30, 2012, 04:49:00 PM »
If you find yourself wondering whether or not a 600grn goldtip tipped with a 160grn snuffer traveling bout 160 fps will shoot through a 10" sweetgum that has recently died and kill the coyote posing downrange, the answer is NO! My arrow is about 10 feet up this tree, had to cut it down to retrieve my arrow.

It might have failed that test , but it would have been sticking deep in the ground if it hit the yote.

Good luck on the next shot.

If you'd a been shooting a 3x1 single bevel of 300-400 grains,  you woulda got the coyote and the firewood woulda been cut and stacked !

I was on the ground one time and shot through a hog..somehow my arrow ricocheted up and stuck into a tree trunk about 10 foot up.

Nothing better than having your arrow sticking out of a tree as a constant reminder during a daylong sit!

Looks like the Snuffer did just fine... Guy on the string??? That might be another story..
Just out of curiosity.. If you can climb a tree to a stand,, how come you had to cut one down to get your arrow?

How much meat does one get from a sweetgum? I didn't even know there was a season for them, it is probably running concurrent with the deer season, like the burr oak season here in Iowa, I got me a big one last year.
