Skinny String Question
«
on:
October 08, 2012, 10:27:00 PM »
I noticed when switching to a skinny string (6 strand SBD) that I can't hit what I'm looking at.. Swithing back to my old stock string and I'm money... What am I missing here? Spine change???

Oh yeah, depending on where you came from probably need a MUCH stiffer spine.

something else to consider is hows the nock fit? I had to bump up in spine though a lot less than I originally thought once I got things tweaked. Going from a 15 strand 97 to a 8 strand d97 string.

You could build out your sideplate about 1/16 to take up the difference too.

Yeah Steve like Bjorn says. Slice a toothpick in half and slide it under your side plate pad and see what happens. Leave the tooth pick longer than the side plate so you can pull it back out after testing.

If u want to do the site window test u can tape it to the out side initially. No need to ruin a good piece of leather if it doesn't work. Makes for quick changes on thickness of material behind your shelf. I use parts of busted shafts shaved down to the thickness I need. A little sanding and glue it on. Now if I could only convince bowyers to go closer to or to center shot so there's something left for a shelf when I am done tinkering lol.
