tree stand recalls ?
« on: October 09, 2012, 08:03:00 PM »
My work buddy just bought a tree stand.  He told me that the one (cheaper) he wanted, sold by Walmart or Farm and Fleet, was not available, the manufacturer was recalling some or all of their stands.  I think he said that the straps were breaking, dropping people.

Anybody know of any recent treestand recalls that we all need to know about ?

The Summit Hawk series stands which hang on a bracket that straps to the tree has a recall in 2010. They are my favorite stands, but I always use extra ratchet straps now.

"CUMBERLAND, WI --(Ammoland.com)- Rivers Edge Treestands, Inc. announces a recall that includes Big Foot, Lite Foot and Baby Big Foot “hang-on” treestands.

The recall pertains specifically to 14,000 units produced in 2012 that do not meet manufacturer specifications and therefore present a serious safety risk.

It has been determined the strap hook assembly on some of these products are defective and could fail, causing the treestand and user to fall to the ground. Rivers Edge Treestands, Inc. has received one report of an incident with no injuries having been reported to date and is issuing the recall as a necessary response.

Product numbers affected by this recall include: RE500, RE501, RE503, RE504, RE506, RE507, RE510 and RE511. "

This must be what he was talking about.  Their report claims only one incident with no injury.
