Was out chasing pigs yesterday and found this Big old bull, 6X6, that lost a battle with some barbed wire and a tree. To bad he had to go out like this.

That's sad. A buddy and I saw an axis deer one time that had it's sheds wrapped around it's neck in old bailing string. We were able to run it down and hold it down when it tried to get through a fence and we were able to cut all of it off.

hate to see that, I've had to put down a couple deer that have gotten hung up and it always sucks.

Leaving that much barbed wire spun around a tree and the ground, is like balling up Mono fish line and throwing it in the water or grass... deadly!

It would appear that nothing goes to waste as the critters have had a party on his carcass...

Nature is tougher than we are for sure... :(

He took down someones fence then brought the hole thing with him and then got it wraped around the tree. This area is a bedding area for elk and pigs on the base that i hunt. Where he is there is not a barded wire fence within 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile.

That sucks! There is an elk farm not too far from me where the prized dominant bull named Legend got stuck in the fence. Before they could get him free, some of the younger bulls came and gored him to death.

Dang that sucks! What a tangled up mess, will you be able to salvage the skull or will you have to leave it and is that a Tule or Rocky Mountain?

That is flat amazing, WT...but you'd know your area and can you imagine that young bull dragging that much fence tangled in his horns and not getting caught up for that long a distance?

Animals and nature are proof that "Truth is stranger than fiction!"

That is reassuring someone didn't just pull fence, wrap it around a tree and leave it... and it's equally bizarre and amazing to imagine an animal dragging that much fence that far!

They are Tule elk. I don't know if i can retrieve the skull and rack or not, i did leave it as it was as i did not have anything to get it lose from the tree with out destroying it plus i was not sure of the game laws here in California regarding taking the rack especially scene its elk season here.
