I was the guy talking to you while you were digging that hole. Another stone added to "Bonehenge". Congrats are in order! Maybe one day I'll get a chance like that.

I was fortunate to have another chance this year thanks to Mr. Starry. I was deployed last year and he made good on a promise to let me attend the same weekend this year. Never think for a second that the deer in the hunt areas are like the deer on the base head quarters lawn! It is a tough hunt. A comfy stand is an absolute must or you just wont stay in that tree. My stand was the Millenium hangon with the folding seat. NICE!

pdk25, think nothing of it, I was actually flattered. I still have not come to terms with taking such a nice animal.

razorsharptokill, thanks for coming over to visit. You do not know how much I appreciated yours and the other folks that helped me dig that hole. The light and comradeship made it fun. Once I got past those roots I got a bit carried away. LOL

Also much thanks to you for your service, veterans day and all. As far as the millennium tree stand goes, I got the tree seat and love the thing. I hunted off the ground Sat. evening and Sun. morning using it. I fell asleep on the evening hunt and got a bit of much needed rest. Love that seat.

If we ever draw out again at the same time, please come up and introduce yourself. Basically remind me, I have a terrible time with names and faces.

Thanks for all the congrats on the buck, but luck is luck. I sincerely hope you guys are the lucky ones next year.

Briars, congrats on that incredible buck!!  Allen Cherry, who was in your group, is a friend of mine.  He emailed me a pic of you and your buck and I immediately recognized it as the buck that was pictured a couple days ago on this thread.  I'm glad you posted another pic with you in it!  And thanks for telling the story... I can not imagine how you must have felt when that arrow hit its mark and then when you recovered the deer!
Enjoy the afterglow!    :jumper:

Thanks Tsalt,
Allen and his dad were as good a guys as you could hope for to ride with.

Allen got his quality pass. I just wish his dad would have been as lucky. I really like the ol man. He was a hoot and probably had forgot more about chasing deer than the rest of us in the group.

A couple of times I complained about wrenching a knee slightly, then come to find out Allens dad had lost both big toes to diabetes and was still keeping up with Allen and I know they did a crap load of walking. One tough son of a gun. Got my respect!

I hope I get to hunt with them again someday.

Briars,

Congrats on that buck. I was in camp last weekend hunting Boggy and saw him strung up that evening. That is one fine deer.

I got Hominy 10/25-27 I hunted DeerCreek two years ago and the year before.  I know good areas there if anyone wants info, but I need info on Hominy.  Cant wait to get back out there.  hopefully the last week in october will be ebtter than the first weekend hunt that I was on before.  Early was rough, Hot, Buggy, and little daytime movement.  Looks like this will be the week after the full moon so I should have good morning movement.  I hope! And I am praying for a cold front! I have got to get that osage stave finished. God luck to all that got drawn in, and please let me know if you have info on Hominy.

Jim, pm me your email and I will share what I know about Deer Creek.

Drew in Hominy 11/1-3 2013. Also looking for any info available. New to this site and trad hunting. Left my wheeled bow in the closet and haven't it got back out since I picked up a bare bow. Pulled map & satelit over view off web. Any input on this hunt area or coming in contact with local trad hunters would be great.

Hey Briars, good to hear from ya. Were you on the ground when you took the buck? Blind or suit or both? Allan
