What's the Kalamazoo area like and is there other things to do ? The reason I ask is I'd like to bring my wife and little girl along !

Just up the road from the expo is sweetwater's donut mill.  Great place to get fresh donuts.

Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo College, and Kalamazoo Valley Comm. College are all in the Kalamazoo area and usually have events going on. The Kalamazoo Institute of Art is in the downtown area. Lots of malls and big-box stores west of downtown and in the city of Portage, on the south side of Kalamazoo. The K'zoo Air Zoo aircraft museum is near the Trad Show location. The Chamber of Commerce Visitors' Bureau can probably provide maps and answer any questions you might have.

I'm hoping to make it this year.  Went once, 2 years ago, and it was a great experience.  It would be great if they had a kids' shooting range, too!

I took my wife and two kids (ages 3 and 7) last year and we had a blast.  Stayed at the Hampton Inn on Kilgore that had an indoor pool.  We were ten minutes from the Expo, also ten minutes from the AirZoo, which I highly recommend.  Lots of restaurants and shopping.  We had a great mid-winter family weekend!
