where to buy a small disc sander???
« on: November 14, 2012, 03:03:00 PM »
All,

I am trying to make a grinder to cut nock and point tapers.  It seems like harbor freight used to sell a cheap little disc sander.  I can seem to find it does anybody know if they still have them or where I can find something like it?

harbor fright for  acheapie dremel tool.  Build a mount that allows you to put a straight cut with a stop using a wood cutting bit.  some have a guide that can be screwed down with modification to it,  a wooden guide with a wooden stop.
Cast a long shadow-you may provide shade to someone who needs it.  Semper Fi

They sell a small chop saw that lots of folks use. It's like a 3 inch blade

Have you seen the Woodchuck Taper Tool?  Or is that whet you are hoping to duplicate?

Wonderful set-up for end tapering.  I love mine.

I'll do some research.  Somewhere I have plans and dimensions for a nock and taper "table" using a sanding disk in a table saw.  The arrow plate whould work with a small sander on the same alignment.

I believe it was in Traditional Bowhunter in a magazine that pre-dated the current one of that name by 10 years or so.  I have a pile of them somewhere.

That might work pretty well. I have a table saw but not not a sanding disc for it.  I might have to look into that option.  I am just trying to find an affordable method to grind point and nock tapers

Caleb, I have a used Woodchuck I was thinking of listing here on the classifieds. I have replaced it with a large custom built machine. If you are interested let me know and I'll send you a picture, etc. It works good. Just don't need it any longer.
