I'm kind of that way too. I own several bows, but shoot only one. I have found MY bow and don't care if I ever have another. I DREAD the day that something bad happens to MY bow and I have to switch to another (Geez, I hope that never happens).

I am good friends with my bowyer and have bought lots of bows from him. A while back we were talking and I told him

"Bob, you meeses up pretty bad by building me this bow"

He looked at me kind of wierd like and said "WHY?".

I looked back at him and said

"How many bows have I bought from you since I got this one?" (the answer is zero because I love my current bow so much).

back when I decided to start bowhunting again Ii had one bow.  About two 3 weeks before opening day of bowseason a limb gave way...I had no back up! Got on the phone with John Fazio and he had a bow at my house in a week.  The first thing I did was go buy a "backup" bow after that.  I have since owned as many as 20.  I go through phases.  This past year was the "longbow phase (went form zero to 3 liberties, a GW Flannegan, a Hill WS, traded one liberty for another Hill and lent out one to a buddy of mine (he has a recurve I want so we may swap) But after all that I'm back to the Ballistick.  That bow just fits.  That beign said, got notification that my Silvertip is at the Post office!!

Hi nice to meet you Randy, I've been for about a year, since i got my Tall Tines.

You are right Longbow917, there are so many great bows out there. For traditional archery I believe we are living in the best times.

I have noe desire to buy bows however one showed up Friday. I was wayyy to cool of a bow to pass up.  The plus side is its one that I always wanted and I know that will never be built again.

Aside from that, I am not looking for bows however I like looking at the pictures on the classifieds.  I also have a hard time walking past an old bow like Bear, Pearson, Shakespeare or Browning.... without picking it up and trying to convince myself not to buy it   :help:

I sent 5 off today for a consignment sale.   I still have 6 and may sell 4 or 5 of those, too.

A bit timely as I too have "one in the mail" and two builds after that.  This has gotten crazy if not completely out of hand!  I got sick of trying the pass arounds in the Classifieds and have almost exclusively gone with new builds now.  I have a Nate Steele Expi Hunter that for over a  year has been my lights out shooter and then Kirk Lavender made me a carbon Flatliner that has all same manners, but with speed closer to a compound.  I'm at a lost on what to think of this situation.  I'm not selling my Bama, but Kirk bow is seeing all my time lately.

Is this the evolution of trad for most.  I really don't think it's taking away from shooting abilities, but it's getting hard to explain the bows on the wall not being used...

Jack Kempf Trophy Hunter is in the mail and Eaglewing Cabon LB after that.  Does this ever end???

I've never really been much on buying new bows or selling others. I've got all the bows I'll ever need. I am one of those people that finds what works for them and sticks with it. I am just glad I started my custom bow journey with Tomahawks though because otherwise I might have spent a lot of money on bows that weren't quite what I was looking for.

I intend to buy one more bow for myself, and I'm currently saving for it bit by bit, savoring the anticipation. My first bow (the one I'm using now) I bought intentionally as a transition back into trad archery, with the idea of going up in wait about 5 years after starting.

I don't have the disposable funds to buy a lot of bows anyway, but even if I did, I don't think I would. I'm not a collector...besides, I can just live vicariously through the guys with cool collections here on TradGang.
