Brass Inserts and Stiffness

I am shooting a PCH 51 @ 28, I draw the bow 27.  My arrows are 28 inch 150 heritage with standard insert and 3 5 inch feathers.  I really like the results I get with a 200 grain point.  Any lower point weight than that and I get inconsisitent groups and more bow noise.  I have my bh set at 8.5 and nock height at 1/2 inch.  I think my arrows are cut a tad short and are a little stiff unless I use the 200 grain point.  I want to shoot 125 grain stinger broadheads so if I add a 100 grain brass insert will it change the stiffness of my arrow over the standard insert?  A 100 grain insert with the 125 grain stinger will get me close to my practice weight.  When I order new arrows I thought I might order them 28.5 with the 100 grain insert.  What are your thoughts?

I have used them a ton and I just haven't seen a difference.

If you order new arrow get them long and cut them down as you tune.  Carbon can really change a lot with length.  Then you can get what you want worked out for head weight.  

Could just be me, but I find that a standard insert and 200 gr. point is not the same as a 125 gr. point and 100 gr. insert. The total weight is close, but I find moving the weight back down the shaft length vs. out hanging on the end makes for a different tune. Moving the weight back stiffens them up some.  

I have been playing with a PCH about 50 at a little more than 29”.  I am shooting a stiffer longer shaft, but working with about the same point and insert weights. I have it tuned with standard insert and 200 gr. point.  Just getting ready to switch back to the 100 inserts.  Before I went to standard inserts, I was kind of close with 100 gr. insert and 145 point.  125 point was too stiff. Going to play some more to see if I can get 150 or 175 to work because I like my VPA’s at that weight.

My other thought would be just stay with the arrows I have and put on a Woodsman 200 grain broadhead.  I just love how stingers fly and perform though.

Coach:  Either will work IMO.  You're just not changing the amount of weight or its position enough to make a noticeable difference in arrow flight.

xtrema312 is extremely correct        . It will change the spine. I have seen this with some CE Heritage arrows I have. They fly fine with a standard insert and a 225 grain Tuffhead up front. When shooting the same arrows with a 100 grain brass insert and a 150 grain Razorcap, they show to be too stiff and arrow flight is affected significantly.
