Yep, some kind of "over-draw" riser. A lot of guys were expeirmenting with them back in the late 60's. By the looks of it, especially the leather, it doesn't look that old however. What is stamped on the leather?
Those things scare me. Knew an accomplised target archer/dealer/range owner who shot a target arrow through the top of his bow hand, expeirmenting.

I can't imagine Harry Drake involved with that. He went from Rosewood to metal flight bow risers. That has 1980's "Futurewood" written all over it.
Looks like a prototype that never went beyond the trial stage.

That is totally cool...if it were mine I would have a trusted bowyer make limbs for it...I would just have to shoot it!

Might want to post that on the "trad/colecting History Forum" a lot of experts on that forum.

Can't make improvements if you don't experiment. Stuff in the box was once outside it.

You got to admire the will to step go beyound the old to try something new. Cool looking - quite a imagination to dream that up. Thanks, Roy

I agree looks like a flight riser, I also agree its unique, not ugly, don't stop it from being an interesting piece of archery history. Be Nice to find out who built it.
