55/75 gold tips

I have a dozen gt 55/75 that i am going to try to make shoot in my Bw longbow it is 51# @ 28" and i draw about 27.5". according to the stu miller spine calculator they should work. If I can fine tune some of the variables like i don't know which string to use on the calculator . what do BW bows have on them?the g tips  are 32" now, and i plan on cutting them 1/2" at a time till i find what length works best. can I use hot melt glue on the inserts long enough to find this then epoxy them in later on?
sorry for the long post but i have more questions than answers at this point.

I shoot 52 lbs and cut 55/75's at 29" and use 250 grain heads. I get great bare shaft flight out to 35 yards. I use nothing but hot melt on all my inserts. I use a small chainsaw file wrapped with some emery cloth to rough up the inside of the shaft. Heat the insert just hot enough to get the glue to melt on it. The big cakes of hot melt that 3 rivers sells from kimsha work the best for me. Keep a cold can of water near by, after you wipe the excess glue off, dunk it and your ready to go.

Cut slow after living with a possible tune for a while. You should get it if you don't mind extra length and weight. I find I need a weaker tune than the calculator says particularly if I use brass inserts. All I use is hot melt but you need to rough up the inside amd clean to get a good bond.

I use electrical tape When fine tuning my arrows.  I personally don't like using hot melt glue on my carbons especially if heating repeatedly, it can weaken the structure of the arrow. That is just me and you can do what you want.  But gluing and un-gluing and gluing and un-gluing takes too long for me:) that is why I use the tape.

how much point weight do you want to use? I think you could use between about 150-250 depending on how long those shafts are cut.

My preference, and this is what i use from my 55#, is for 100gr insert, 120gr point, my arrows are 29" carbon. little tiny bit underspined for my bow so i built out the strike plate. This gives about 530gr arrow. just over 10grain per pound for your bow.

You will need to leave them full length, and most likely need 200-250 gr up front. Leave them bareshaft (no feathers) to check flight.

I cut the nock end,dont have to worry about the insert.Also some people have used a plastic shopping bag for installing inserts and nock end if its a loose fit.As long as you use a soft target.To me cutting the nock end works for me.
Also if you dont want that much weight up front you can add more weight to the rear,or go to a stiffer spine.
