Shelton, you are on the money.  "culling" and QDM was developed on HUGE parcels of private land, basically theu king's forest.  If your private land is less than 1,000 acres I doubt culling and QDM will be very effective unless you build a tall fence.  Neighbors with itchy trigger fingers have their own definition of "culling".  That's not to say letting a spike is a bad idea.  I've never seen a 200 lb spike, so they must grow bigger racks with time, but I don't think we should kid ourselves that a 100 acre parcel of land is big enough to grow trophy racks because of our managment methods.
