Columbia Wool..can the color be lightened?

Hello..I have a set of Columbia Wool in the Tamerac I believe..its dark for my liking and was wondering if it can be lightened in color in a safe manner..Thanks for any Ideas or expierences.

I went the other route, and bought the snow camo, then darkened it to my liking with juice from walnut hulls...

Not trying to hi-jack this thread but doesn anyone own the columbia monarch pass jacket? Just wondering how warm it is, need something heavier than my asbell pullover for late season, and the columbia seemed like a decent deal.

I have one.  They are pretty dang warm, ecspecially riding over a wool button up with a down vest.  Good for temps from 10 to 45 with that setup.  God Bless

I've never done it but why couldn't you soak it in a VERY MILD cold water bleach solution, rinse, blot, and then block the jacket. If it gets too light put it in a dye solution.

It's risky and may ruin your coat though.

Kenny, that is the best looking wool camo. Is it colorfast or will it fade with age and being rained on?

Rit makes a white "Dye" that is made to lighten fabrics that aren't supposed to be bleached before you dye them the desired color.

I would guess that it would do the trick, but don't blame me for ruined wool, if you try it and the material evaporates or something. lol    :dunno:

It fades a bit, esp. on the legs where it rubs brush and stuff. Haven't worn it in the rain, but think a lot of rain would make your socks brown! LOL

Leave it lay out in the sun for a while. It will fade.
