Serving ?'s
« on: August 17, 2007, 11:26:00 PM »
Need to reserve a few strings and the instructions that came with my serving tool are not too clear on how to do it. Can anyone point me to a good "re-servalong" or web-site that shows the process?

While the whip end serving works ok, I use a reverse type serve at the end to finish. But first make sure you are winding in the proper direction. Lefties are reversed from righties. For right, I lay the bow in my lap with the sight window facing me and the top of the bow to my left. Begin serving over the serving material working left to right. Be sure to bring the serving over the top of the string toward you.  This is important because if you serve it back wards it will unwind as you shoot eventually.  I serve about an inche and then fold the loose end of the seving string back over the top of the beginning serving and keep serving. At the end, I pull a bunch of slack out and move 4 inches or maybe more away from the served part.  Start serving in the same direction but back toward the served portion. You will have a loop over the part you are serving and the end will be on your right.  I serve around another inche.  Next I lay the spool and string back over the loop at the end of the original serving. Now using the loop part finish serving.. The serving will unwind as you finish and you will have the end of the serving material under the finished serving, like a whip.  I pull both ends tight and clip the serving material close.  I finish with a bit of Power Bond to lock it all in place on each end.
Damn Nice guy
