Can't Hit X - What should I do?
« on: August 18, 2007, 01:24:00 PM »
Yesterday while is was grilling dinner I was shooting some arrows.

Out of nine arrows I could not hit the X from about 22-23 yards.  Should I give away my Great Plains and get a wheelie bow?  Maybe I should have left my friend Sam Adams in the refrigerator.   :bigsmyl:

Why are you worried about the "X"  That is one great group. Anyone would be proud of that at 22 yards. Nice shooting.

Nakohe,
Not worried, just showing off a bit.  I don't always group this well so I felt a need to take the photo.

Nice shooting, my problem is when I shoot that many arrows, I break them up pretty bad. I try to limit my groups to 3 arrows. Go Hunt!!! Shawn

Sooner or later grouping like that is gonna start costing you a few nocks. Good shooting!

Oh yea, good shooting too!

Last time I was shooting consistant groups like that at 25-30 yards or so, was when I was shooting the Great Plains recurves....Great shooting recurves there.

Seeing that.....Now I'm really frustrated.   I did  better than that this morning with a friends wheelie bow  and have probably shot less than 40 arrows with a wheelie bow over the years.  Over years I've shot thousands of arrows with a recurve and can't seem to zero in anymore.  Been shooting off and on since I was 12 or so.  Now I'm 51.
30 inch draw, 47# 60" bow.  2016 xx75 easton gamegetterII  arrows. Is my setup ok?

Wanna tighten up that group? Put the Sam's away and start sipping some Bombay Sapphire Gin...that will definately tighten up those groups!!! LOL

jlbpa,
Your arrows could be just a tad weak.  I draw 30", my bow is 42# so I am pulling about 48#.  You may be pulling about 5# more.  I have 2016s with 100gr. points.  You might need 2018 or 2115.  I think weak spine would be more erratic and hard to group.

Joe Skipp,
The Bombay Sapphire would tighten things up.  Whenever I see that light blue color I get thirsty.
