Ladder stand back cover help
«
on:

Have a great tree on a path for a ladder stand but no back cover. Stand is nice and close for easy shots and nite time hogs so need to do something to help conceal me better. I know there's products looking like branches but I'm not spending $50.
I'm thinking of using brackets or just rope to hang branches. Curious if TG has other ideas to help- love to see pics too.
Thanks!

Use the search feature and check for a build by Gatekeeper. It used a PVC pipe with holes drilled in it and wired or strapped to the tree.
Simple and cheap.( And everyone thought Tom was just another pretty face. )

I have used zip ties and 550 cord to build cover around stands when I needed it. Cheap and easy to do.

Find an old fake christmas tree that somebody wants to get rid of after the season and you could use the branches from that to build up around your stand. They have metal limbs that you can bend to shape and they will stay that way. There are usually several along the road for curbside pickup, at yard sales and the local dump. Sometimes Goodwill has them as well. They are light, pack small and stick in the ground for use as a brush blind anywhere as well. You could even paint them with some tan in streaks to better match your area. (if not in pines)

If you have oak brush/limbs available, you can cut enough to hang behind you and the leaves hang tight even after they turn brown. I use natural fiber twine to tie branches in place, then if I move a stand, I can leave the branches in place and it all will recycle naturally.

I saw an article a few years ago in TBM that showed Roger Rathaars set up. He had a ladder staqnd with a half blind build around it with, i bielieve, burlap camo and old flexible tent poles. It looked pretty slick.

I've been using a backdrop made out of an large tomato cage.Cut prongs off.Cut vertically and spread in an arc wide enough to not hinder draw.Covered with camo/christmas tree parts and zip tied to the back of swivel seat.Built mainly to cut the North wind and hogs don't seem to notice anything different.Had them really close too.
