Im taking a ride on the Polar express!

Nope, its not the train, but in fact is a 1950's Bear Polar longbow, 66" 66@ 28. Ive been trying for ages to acquire one of these pieces of history at a fair price, and this evening i finally hit one on the big auction site, W/ an original tape on quiver.
Spring turkey season is still a ways off, so that gives me plenty of time to give it a facelift, make a quality string and get her tuned in.
My Christmas present may not be bright, shiny, glamorous, or new, but hunting with this old classic will be a joy and noteworthy pleasure.
Sometimes the excitement of receiving an old bow is as great or greater than that of receiving a new one!   :coffee:

Which year is it, Paul? What are your plans for refinishing it?

I have a 1956 Polar (dual-shelf, 64", 44#) that I hope to refinish this winter. I've had it for a few years now. The white micarta tip overlays have deteriorated and I think I'll try replacing them with horn.

I have a few other 1950s longbows from Bear, Pearson, Root and others. I enjoy shooting the old ones.
