4-3" feathers.....anyone ?

I'm currently shooting 4-4" shield cut feathers with broadheads and get great flight. I mostly like the 4 feathers because of there looks. I'm pondering on trying 3" feathers in the 4 feather configuration. Any of you guys use 4-3" feathered shafts with broadheads ? And yes I know a perfectly tuned arrow/bow combo should shoot most anything! Lol

I use 4 3in fletchings but I have a disclaimer. My 3in feather are in tradititional cuts so still has the surface of a 4in. I wouldn't recommend smaller that 4in with shield or parabolic. I think vanes can be shorter though as they are stiffer.

I use 4 fletch 3 inch Tru-Flight shield cut on some of my arrows and have not had a problem shooting broadheads. I use Woodsmans and Tusker Concordes mostly. Have not tried it with any of the really large heads though.

I used to shoot 4x3 parobilics with a high FOC arrow out of a 47@28 checkmate hunter 2 and they flew great! the 4 3" feathers I thought were much less affected by cross winds which was nice.

I am back shooting 3 5" shields and because I just like the look of the feather better. back a few years ago I fletched up a few arrows all with the same grain arrow and went out and shot... Pretty surprised how much better the 4x3" shot in cross winds. The 3x5" were the worst by far. this was on a very windy day shooting outside so there are lots of varibles, but I still feel like the 4x3 is a killer feather choice. It was also quiter in flight.

I use some 4 x 3" parabolics and also have great flight with high foc and well tuned bareshafts.
I also have tried 4 x 2" Ashby cut,4" x 2 shield, and 5" x 2 parabolic fletch. They all seemed the same excellent flight with well tuned bareshafts and are very quiet in flight.I was in the mood to tinker a while back and deviate from the standard larger fletching. I think they all can work with good tuning and I also know others will disagree.

If your set up is tuned you don't need that much feather. I use four two inch feathers with broadheads without a problem. Drew

I use a 3 inch 3 fletch on my target and 3D arrows. No problems . I don't have a. Chrono but it looks like the arrows fly faster. Maybe it's just me. I do know I don't have the same drop at 30 yards that I do with 4 or 5 inch.

I don't think they  woud be good with broad heads not enough steerage

I had been using 4 X 4" but this year I tried 4 X 3.5". Three deer and two turkeys...no problems....they were shield cut. I'll make a few with 3" fletches and see what happens with the Spring turkeys.
