Wild Scouting Trip
« on: August 18, 2007, 10:16:00 PM »
Went out Friday after work to check out an area southwest of Albuquerque looking for deer. The first area was a no go. So I headed for Monte Negro to try the hills. I got there late so set a quick camp, no clouds so threw the sleeping bag in the back of the pickup. Woke up to watch for deer as the sun came up but never saw anything. Decided to stop and make coffee when I heard a doe snorting. I spotted the doe at the top of the ridge then heard her fawn bleating. I finally spotted the mountain lion carrying the fawn by the neck up over the ridge. Gave me goose bumps thinking I slept less then a 1/4 mile away. One of the most awesome moments I've had hunting.

That's pretty wild! We don't have to worry about those big kitties around here.

Wow!  It's a privilege to be that intimate with the flow of nature.  Thanks for sharing the image.
