Minnetonka Moccasins
«

Just bought some of these in Pigeon Forge TN, i have the "classic" fringed ones. I bought them too stalk with.
They are deerskin entirely, even the bottom, so i realize that the life of them wont be as long, but the seemed so much quieter.
Your thoughts on these? Anybody have any experience with them? at 40bucks i thought Ehh what the heck?

Maybe you can add some thicker leather to soles to help them last longer. Or some Shoe Goop from sodhopper moccasins.

My experience with them is that they make pretty good house shoes, pretty lousy hunting mocs. For treks in the outdoors in moccasins I go with Arrows or Dyers; much tougher and made to be worn in the woods. They cost more than the Minnetonkas, but they last 10 times longer. I think I paid about $140 for my last Arrows, and they still are in great shape after 3 years. You get what you pay for.

I got a pair a few years ago and I'm with Centaur on this. I would NOT use them for hunting because of durability issues.

Go down to your local tire store and get some rubber grindings if they sipe tires. Then get contact cement, put it on the soles and stepp into a box with the rubber grindings in them.Let dry and airout time.I have done this,it was o.k.
Centaur has a good point, and the Dyers would be optimum. The minnetonkas good camp shoes though.Once you get a stone bruise, you are done with mocs for 2 weeks though.I also recomend a wool felt insole inside your mocs too.Best of luck.

I have been very pleased with my Arrow mocs 3 years now. Mocs have there place as do other types of foot wear nothing works well for everything. Arrows are extemely well made life time stitching guarnatee. Do a search on here and you'll get lots of feed back.

You could always make a project of it and make your own. This pair I made out of some elk hide I had. Just waiting for the time to use them. Can make them big enough for a wool liner or heavy socks.

I can not recommend enough: Arrow brand mocs. Paul is standup and has a great product.
I had my dress shoes worked on and showed the cobbler the mocs. He thought it amazing how thick the leather was and the quality of it as well.
Really the best for the money... This is not an advertizement. It's just the first time that I think I got my money's worth. No buyers remorse!
