Northern Mist Classic vs HH Wesley Special
« on: January 16, 2013, 12:30:00 PM »
Alright gang...Please help me out here ! I'm torn between a Northern Mist Classic OR a HH Wesley Special. I would like some feedback from those fellow tradgang members who have owned/shot BOTH so I can break the "tie" between the two bows...can't wait to see the responses ! Thanks

I have found more variation between bows individually than between makes. I've shot HHA's that I loved and other that were just ok. It depends on the individual bow.

I think that a deep cored bow with that much wood (or grass in the Wesley's case) then there is more difference in the "personality" of the bow from one to the other.  Just as Runner said.  I belive that the handle profile has more to do with whick overall will be better for you.

I own and regularly shoot each bow you mentioned--they are my two favorite longbows and you can't go wrong either way. Handle profile is whatever you tell the bowyer you want--that's why they are called "custom" bows.  They make them the way you want 'em.  ;)

I've owned and shot both, the Wesley seemed a bit better-shooting with me, but that was just me. My shooting buddy liked the NM better and I sold it to him. I agree there is probably more difference from one bow to the next vs. one bowyer to another. Both carry good reputations, so if you get one used, you can move it easily enough if it doesn't suit.

eeny, meenie, minee, moe.....LOL,,, I was going to say flip a coin!!   :dunno:   I have become a bit of a Northern Mist fan, but both bows are excellent.

I've got a 70" 58# Redman with a.slightly dished grip and I'll be picking up a 68" NM Classic with a straight grip at Kzoo in a week so I'll let you know. It took me a long time to get comfortable shooting the HH but this type of bow grabs you and doesn't let go and looking forward to complimenting the hill with the mist.

I have heard good thing about each but never shot one... What is the wait time on each and is one or both of the builders TG sponsors? I support those who support TG !

HH can have you a bow in about 4 to 5 weeks. Northern Mist is about a 9 month wait currently.
