Product Review
« on: January 16, 2013, 12:45:00 PM »
I went to the Product Review forum to see if I could find any information on the Samick Red Stag one piece recurve. I realize it isn't at the upper end of recurves and that it is probably made over-seas. However, even at the lower price of the Samick recurve, I'd have to sell something in order the buy one. I would have posted my question on the Product Review forum, but I noticed that it says (more than once) that it's NOT a Q&A forum. So my question resides on this forum. I'm questioning about the rate of stack up, comfort of grip, accuracy and longevity of limbs. Can anyone quide me hear. Thanks ahead.

I cant speak for the Red Stag, but I have a Samick Squall and a Sage and I really like them.  I dont notice any stacking, comfortable grip and really spits out the arrows.  I know alot of people don't like Samick because theyre made overseas but I dont think you can go wrong with one for the price.  Especially for a beginner or if money is tight(Im guilty of both).  Good luck

I shot a Samick recurve last summer. It was fast enough, no stacking till my draw of 29 but it had some handshock. But I must admit I am used to bows that are dead-silent in the hand without any vibrations, so I might be a bit spoiled here...

I think for the money you can't gow wrong!

And don't worry buying overseas... I do it all the time...

When overseas worries you: take a look at Omega longbows. They are hybrids, so the best out of two  worlds! Handmade in the USA by a serious bowyer and they won't break the bank:   http://omegalongbows.webs.com/bowsandotherproducts.htm

My daughter shoots a Samick Sage.  It is a very good bow for the money.

And yes Ad, you are spoiled shooting a Cari-bow Peregrine and Whippenstick Phoenix!  LOL

My wife has a Red Stag, I have shot it pulling 28", don't know how much more it can take than that. The limbs are really thin - she loves it and shoots it well. It's the lightest weight bow I have pulled 30lbs so I am not used to that either and may be why I thought I would break it. The grip is nice, real affordable too. I think I paid 180 bucks for the takedown a few years ago.
