Are fat shafts more forgiving than skinny

Ive done a lot of tuning of late with my set up which is a bit out of the norm i us vanes and a rest out of my stalker ..which i shoot [email protected]

What ive found is i went from Rwing to Lwing man what a diff this was night and day

Then found that a fat 2117 worked even better then my GT 75/95 lots of point weight dif

Has anyone else found the same thing that  there big fat shafts are more forgiven then the skinny carbons

What about the tapered shafts love to here about them

What kind of Point weight did you use on the 2117? I like that shaft alot with moderate point weights.

I had some Heavy spine carbons(gt) that took a pound of point weight and still would have some goofy fliers. I would think it is the spine/point weight diff rather than the shaft dia.


Tapered shafts? Arrow Dynamics for me. Work out of all my bows.
I think you would enjoy an AD Traditional shaft very much.

Main factors are more related to the mass of the arrow, than diameter.

shane, what point weight are you using with those 75/95's out of that bow?
i have a 57#@28" bow whch i draw to 26" and i recently tuned some axis 400's with 350gr up front.
i use the 75/95's out of my 69#@28" bow and they are weighted to 930gr.

changing to Lwing must have given better clearance of the rest hey?

Shaft diameter makes no difference at all if the arrow is correctly tuned to the bow.   Sounds to me like one of the arrows you were/are shooting was well tuned to the bow, the other not.  

Same goes for the feathers/vanes.  Unless you're shooting off your hand, left wing vs right wing shouldn't make any difference. Perhaps you had the vanes turned in such a way that they were catching on the elevated rest.  Regardless, glad you found something that works for you.
