Quivers

Like I said in a previous post.  I am new to the traditional archery.  I am shooting a Bear Super Kodiak.  I would like to know what type quiver everyone prefers while shooting traditional.

I hunt with a side quiver and usually practice with a back pocket quiver.  I am not a big fan of extra weight on my bow.  I also like to make my own quivers and arm guards like a lot of others around here do.

I bought an Arrowmaster this year and like it a bunch, so far.

I use a Eagles Flight Cherokee Cheif on my bow...light, easy on/off, and holds just enough arrows.....also have used back quivers too....

I've used a hip quiver the last three deer seasons.  They are alright, easy access to arrows but they tend to get caught up in brush quite a bit.  I plan on using my new back quiver next season, I haven't used one hunting yet but I have enjoyed it for stumping.

You will get lots of different opinions. Many of us have tried everything; bow quivers, back quivers, side quivers, etc., and it all comes down to personal preference. I think I have used them all, and my current favorite is the SafariTuff Arrowmaster, but I also am using a Howard Hill back quiver and love the traditionalism of it, but I prefer the Arrowmaster when it is time to do some serious hunting.

I hunt with a side quiver. Used an Arrowmaster this season. It was very functional and convenient, but a bit too loud in the thick stuff, so I'll return to a leather one for next season. I've tried several bow quivers in the past and dislike them, with one exception. I keep a Black Widow single arrow holder on my bows for use when still hunting or stalking.

I have a backquiver, a hip quiver I converted to an Asbell style and a bow quiver.  When just target shooting or 3d I use the back quiver.  When hunting I have settled on the bow quiver.  I use a climber I pack in and out to much for anything else to be practical.  When moving through thick brush if I manuver my bow through the arrows go through as well.  My arrows are always with the bow for a quick grab if I need them.  I can not tell any difference shooting with or without the quiver.  Bow weight changes some, but not enough to matter, and I practice all fall with three arrows in teh quiver to match a hunting situation weight and balance.

for true hunting any quiver but a back quiver,,, only reason I wouldn't put broadheads in a back quiver is if you trip and fall the arrows can come out of the quiver and then the broadheads are pointed up at your face and neck as your falling forward,,, cut that cartoid or jugler or take an eye out way out in the woods and its going to get messy.

this season I used Bow quivers  but my fletching got beat up,, next season I'll go with the EFA style, I think its the most versitle if you hunt different ways like trees, ground, swamps, stalking..

Yes sir I like this side quiver really well.  It stays tucked under my right arm while I am walking and is easy to sneak an arrow out of if a second shot is called for.  I have made several of these for friends and even have a pattern I am more than happy to send to anyone that would like it to make one for themselves.
