Hawaii ideas?
« on: January 28, 2013, 11:55:00 AM »
This June she will have put up with me for 35 yrs! Can't believe it. She is a saint! So, for our 35th anniversary I'd like to whisk her away to paradise. We are not big city or big resort type of people. It would be really cool to combine a few days of hunting axis deer with this trip....      ....well as long as we'll be there might as well shoot the bow...
So, if anyone has any ideas of where to go and if you have contacts I would love to hear from you. If you don't want to "go public" with your info. please PM me and I'll get a hold of you to discuss it.
Really appreciate it. Since we don't ever do this big of a journey I would like to do it right!

Here it is David.   http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=119858

Give me a call if you have any questions.  It was honestly dirt cheap to go, and we lived the high life for 2 weeks.

For axis deer, I belive that is Molokai, and Lanai (I think).  Check that out with Kevin Dill.  He went right before I did and I think his was Molokai for Axis.

If on Oahu, make sure you spend some time on Makapuu Beach. Also, the "toilet bowl" is nearby. Ask some locals how to get there. It's like a lava tube that swishes in and out with each wave and nearly throws you out if a big wave.

While the bowhunting is what you're probably looking for, there's some world class marlin fishing to be had too.

I do not think there are axis on the big island but some of the other islands have them, cannot remember for the life of me which ones though. Big island does have pigs as does Oahu. There are outfitters over there that take people hunting. I know Don Thomas has hunted and taken axis there.

PM Ryan Sanpei,S2 Bowstrings on here, I bet he can help you with hunt ideas. Also, islandlongbow used to post on here, he is a police officer there and hunts pigs and such.

I go every year,,,, take her to the north shore,,check for  those stinging jelly fish before you go into the water and if you fish especially fly fish hawaii has some of the biggest bonefish you will find,,,,,also peacocks at wilson lake..  your wife like mine might just like chilling on the boat while you fish.

also spear some octopuse and throw those babys right on the grill..

check out the big stadium flea market on sundays, the wife will love it.. for breakfast get the moku loko at least once and enjoy life....mahalo T

Are there any archery ranges/clubs on any of the islands?  My wife and I are going for our 20th next year.  She probably wouldn't mind me shooting some, but doubt she will let me hunt.  :archer2:

thats funny Hermon because we got married on the 20th there right at the Hilton on the beach but I tried to do a pig hunt when i was there and I did find a few people here who are from HI but it just didn't pan out,,, I'm sure someone can show you some ranges or stump shooting,, maybe even bow fishing but not sure.

I guess I'm one of those guys but when I go to Hawaii I'm just fly fishing for the biggest  stuff I can find then rent a Harley and ride all over the Island, its amazing watching the surfers up on the north shore then getting some matsumoto's shaved ice, eating all kinds of seafood the place is just awesome.  I told my wife if she ever threw me out I'm headed right to Hawaii and never coming back..

sorry I have to leave this thread because I can't go,,,, But you guys have a good time,, also take your wives to feed the sea turtles some lettuce by hand at the Zoo too & then sea park to swim by herself with two dolphins,,,, and try the moculoko breakfast and thank me later 8^)
