Arrow spine ?
« on: January 30, 2013, 10:31:00 PM »
For you arrow gurus out there.

I just bought a new bow and I am shooting 50@27.

I am going to fletch up some arrows and here is what I have in mind for this setup.  Tell me what you think.

GT trad 3555's cut at 29.5 with 100gr inserts and 125 grain heads.

Sound about right?

Hopefully Ill be shooting by monday to get it all figured out.

Before I'd cut them down, I'd bareshaft a full-length arrow and tune it from there

I have a similar set up.

Arrow Dynamic Lites cut to 30", 100 grain brass inserts, 225 grain heads. 650 total weight and about 25% FOC.  They shoot like darts.

Keep them long to start.  I would do 30” if not full length.  Hard to say for sure more than that without more info on your bow like type and center cut.  Still lots of variables, but the 3555 should work for most bows at that weight and draw length if cut to or past center.  Are you set on the 125 point?  If you are, then you really want to start long.  If not, then you can probably get away with the 29.5” and play with points and then cutting to fine tune.  You would have 1.5” of cutting room.  I have shot them, but with most of my bows around 50-55@ 29 and 30” minimum arrows, they are getting too light most times. I could do a lot more with them if I could cut them 1” shorter.

I shoot the same arrows cut to 29 inches (225 up front) out of my 50# and 52# ACSs.  Like lazers.
