Cleaning fletchings??
« on: February 01, 2013, 07:36:00 PM »
I just got around to taking to broadheads off my hunting arrows to install the field points so I can start back to shooting my target. While doing so I realized I forgot to clean an arrow that I harvested a doe with on the last day. I'm new this year to trad equipment and have always had vanes for my wheelies. So I'm wondering how you can clean and make the feathers look new again without having to re-fletch the arrow. Or is re-fletching the way to go? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

Wash them with warm soapy water. Shake excess water out of them. Turn on the tea kettle and then steam them. They'll pop back up. If they don't you can stand them up by hand and then steam again. Don't burn yourself!
